The Apprentice?

Okay, the situation at work is getting ridiculous.
I have yet to be given any real responsibility on this project. I’m still being assigned little tasks one at a time. I’m still being treated like some kind of intern, not the guru that I was told they were looking for when they hired me. Everyone around me is doing the fun stuff. It’s my job to clean up after them and tie up loose ends.
To make things worse, I had a heart-to-heart (okay, mind-to-mind - we’re developers) with the developer who seems to have the most design responsibility. He’s a sharp guy. I expressed concern about various aspects of the system’s design, felt him out to see if the powers that be would give us some space to build this thing the right way the first time around. I made recommendations about how we could change the way we’re doing things.
He explained that our hands were being forced to write so-so code because of time constraints, management fears, etc. Now, a week later, he’s implementing my recommendations (and getting all the credit) while I’m still stuck doing intern-type work. What?! At least involve me in some way. Jeez.
I’m being pigeon-holed again, people. I’m getting a little paranoid too. I have my rear-view mirror set up to watch traffic and body language behind me. With my headphones on, I listen to the sound of an air conditioner. The soothing hum seems to drown out everything, including my bitter dissapointment.
